Rotary International is a global network of service volunteers. It is the world's largest service organisation for business and professional people, with some 1,210,905 members operating in 168 countries world-wide.
There are some 58,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,845 clubs, helping those in need and working towards world understanding and peace. It's a fulfilling role, and Rotarians can get involved as much or as little as their time will allow.
But there is much more. Clubs meet on a regular basis, which allows members to build firm friendships. Every Rotarian has a right to attend any Club meeting anywhere in the world, so there is always somewhere to go, and people to meet, wherever business or leisure travel may take you.
Various Clubs have different emphasis, which can reflect differences in size. A small market town may have a Club of perhaps 20 members, whereas in large centres the number can be closer to 100. Some concentrate on local community or vocational projects. Others link up with a sister club in another country to undertake an international project. Each Club decides how it wants to use the resources it has available.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART!
IT WAS A GREAT DAY - WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED YOURSELVES AND YOUR GROUP, ASSOCIATION OR CHARITY DID WELL

THE NEXT CHRISTMAS FAYRE FOR CHARITIES WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY 22nd NOEMBER 2008 in the Wintergardens, WSM - BOOK THIS DATE IN YOUR DIARY

We are pleased to announce this year’s Christmas Fayre which took place on Saturday 17th November 2007 in the Prince Consort Hall at the Winter Garden, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset between 10.00 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. was a great success.

Over 50 organisations participated in a very successful event, raising both the awareness with the public, considerable sums for their good causes and a fun day for everyone who participated. We estimate that the event raised in excess of £7,000.00

As on previous occasions, there was no charge for admission to the Fayre for members of the public and the event was widely advertised, including a piece in the Weston & Somerset Mercury and around the town on the day itself.

How can your organisation take part next year?

We will be writing to all the clubs, groups, associations and charities on our list sometime in 2008. A nominal organisational charge for participating organisations will remain at £5.00 per table. This is to assist us with the expenses involved in organising the event, which is already subsidised by the Rotary Club of Weston-super-Mare in association with the Weston & Somerset Mercury, as well as various other local businesses.

You will need to book early to avoid disappointment. We turned away many groups just weeks before the event.

If you took part this year and have any suggestions for improving the event to the mutual benefit of all the organisations who participate we would be glad to hear your suggestions.

There will soon be photos of the event appearing on this web site.

Why not call back in a few days to see what fun we all had.
